Airport emergency services

A typical airport emergency plan involves several different components and is usually created and implemented by either the airport manager or an emergency response coordinator. Operators of Part 1airports must provide aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) services during air carrier operations that require a Part 1certificate. The guidance and resources below address ARFF training, ARFF vehicles, and other aviation fire and rescue requirements.


Duties vary by job, but may include rescuing people from aircraft, airfiel or airport vehicle crashes , fire or accident prevention, investigation or inspections, public education, crowd control, and security. Emergency services personnel provide CPR and other emergency responses.

The types of airport emergency planning and response contingencies to be accounted for range e. All arrival and departure vehicles can enter the airport after the security inspection at the main entrance. The department is led by Fire Chief Russell Stanley and has three shifts that include a deputy fire chief, captain, lieutenant and three fire engineers.
