Hernia repair tummy tuck

Tummy Tuck Hernia Repair - Dr. Is it possible to get hernia after tummy tuck? How much does abdominoplasty cost?

The treatment of these hernias is dependent upon a variety of factors including the size and location of the hernia and the overall health of the patient. However, it is important to understand which conditions cause the need for hernia or tummy tuck procedures, what each procedure entails, and which parts may or may not be covered by your health insurance.

Abdominoplasty is mainly reshaping of the skin, muscle and fatty tissue of the abdomen, usually by removing skin and fatty tissue. This is purely cosmetic surgery, even when combining it with hernia repair. The colloquial name for abdominoplasty – “ tummy tuck ” – unfortunately tends to trivialize the operation.

So, much like strengthening and tightening your stomach, a tummy tuck can similarly correct an umbilical hernia or ventral hernia. The upper and lower abdomens are tightened during surgery. A hernia repair can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck.

Your plastic surgeon may be able to do both or may have the hernia repaired by a General Surgeon during the same procedure.

If the belly button dies, your surgeon will remove it and the resulting scar will hopefully look like a small belly button! Weak abdominal muscles are often associated with lordosis, or sway back. After an abdominoplasty, patients may notice that their posture has improved significantly, thanks to the tightened muscles supporting their spine. Laparoscopic (minimally invasive) hernia repair uses a laparoscope, a thin, telescope-like instrument that is inserted through a small incision at the umbilicus (belly button). This procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia , so before the surgery, you will have an evaluation of your general state of health, including a history.

Another advantage of simultaneous tummy tuck and hernia repair is shortened recovery time. Abdominal hernias such as umbilical, inguinal, or ventral hernias can occur as a result of pregnancy, weight gain, or heavy lifting and straining. Repair of an umbilical or ventral hernia with tummy tuck is rather safe and easy. This type of hernia can be easily repaired with a tummy tuck procedure.

In order to repair the umbilical hernia , the patient’s own body tissue or mesh can be used to stop up the hole. Using the patient’s own tissues essentially brings the edges of the hernia together and restores that area of the body to whole once more. My hernia was the entire upper portion of my abdomen along the midline incision line.

The surgeon put in a 4xpiece of mesh during the hernia repair. The tummy tuck operation is done to make the stomach flatter, thinner, and more attractive. It repairs the muscle weakness often coming from pregnancy, aging, or prior surgery.

Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a tummy tuck , is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The procedure can improve cosmesis by reducing the protrusion of the abdomen. I had to have a hernia repaire my belly button moved up and also had lipo and muscle tightening. I havent had any problem until a couple months ago and began to have abdominal bloating and severe constipation and got so bad was put in the hospital and diagnosed with ileus but could. The excess skin is removed and the belly button is reimplanted in a new position.

Many patients who have an incisional hernia will have excess skin after the hernia is repaired. A tummy tuck involves a long incision across the bikini line from hip to hip. Hernia patients are frequently overweight and the overhanging skin and fat is considerable.
