CWS investigates reports of suspected child abuse and neglect and intervenes with families who do not meet the minimum community standards of health and safety as required by law. CWS is dedicated to helping families achieve safety and stability, making sure children are protected from abusive and potentially harmful situations, and ensuring families in our system receive the services they need. A Staff Services Analyst in CWS oversees all related MOUs and contracts. DCF works toward establishing the permanency and well-being of children by providing supports and services to families at home when it is safe to do so. Existing law provides for services to abused and neglected children and their families.

In most cases, DCF is able to provide supports and services to keep children safe with parents or family members.
