Push the blade into the joint until the grinder head contacts the brick, and make a single pass along the center of the joints. Pick up some mortar on a large trowel and then, using a pointing trowel , work smaller amounts into the horizontal and vertical gaps between the bricks. Start by grinding the top and bottom of the horizontal (bed) joints with an angle grinder ( Photo ). Hold the grinder with both hands to keep it steady and avoid grinding into the bricks.
